Luure grew out of doctoral research at the University of Cologne: Dr. Oliver Rath and Dr. Johannes Melsbach developed their first ideas for a joint startup there. Christian Imhoff joined for the shared EXIST application, bringing eight years of experience in industrial production. We shared one conviction: unlike large language models, computer vision right now offers vast room for innovation — especially in process innovation.
The starting point was the University of Cologne's Gateway incubator in October 2025, where we refined our business idea. In exchange with industry, investors and academia, one thing became clear: the path to a platform begins with concrete pilot projects for real customers. We found that support: since March 2026, the founding team has been backed by the EXIST start-up grant — and, shortly afterwards that same month, we founded Luure GmbH.
Through our partners, we quickly arrived at the infrastructure sector — and delivered our first project there.
